Prolotherapy Treatments

For non-surgical healing of joints, ligaments, and tendons, Action Spine and Joint is proud to offer top-of-the-line prolotherapy that will lead you on the path to recovery in no time. In this therapy, we can recreate the body's ability to heal itself, from repairing new or old injuries to relieving the pain of worn-out joints.

Rather than blood and platelets, the prolotherapy injection is made up of dextrose (sugar water), saline, sarapin, procaine, lidocaine, or a combination of these. Your dose's makeup will be specifically chosen by Dr. Bearden based on your biology and individual needs. Each of these substances is harmless in itself, but when injected into an area where there is damage or injury, they will instigate the body's natural reaction to attack inflammation and heal the inflamed area. As a result, a wounded area will get a second chance to heal naturally with no need for surgery. If you are interested in a joint care solution that takes the possibility of surgery off the table, contact us today!

Regenerative Medicine

Regenerative treatment can be a viable alternative to surgery. While there is much debate about the effectiveness of regenerative treatments and whether or not it is the role of chiropractors to implement this type of treatment, the reported benefits are vast for a wide variety of conditions. Our chiropractic practice treats injuries and chronic conditions in the shoulders, knees, and other parts of the body. Speaking from personal and professional experience, Action Spine and Joint has been wildly successful with the use of regenerative to treat pain, degenerative conditions, and other issues of the bones and joints for patients in Nashville and the surrounding areas.

Auto Accident Chiropractic Treatment

Being in an auto accident is one of your worst fears as a driver. The injuries you incur could last a lifetime, and that's assuming that you are the only one affected. When a dreaded accident occurs, you'll need all the help you can get to recover from your injuries and avoid a lifetime of pain and suffering.

Benefits of Visiting Action Spine and Joint After An Accident

Treats Less Obvious Injuries

Broken bones and cuts can be diagnosed and treated pretty easily, but a condition like whiplash may not be so obvious. However, left untreated, this serious injury could leave you with symptoms that last for the rest of your life.

Has Anti-Inflammatory Effects

When you are involved in an auto accident, you most likely will experience microscopic tears in the fibers within your body, mainly the ligaments, tendons, and muscles. These injuries won't show up on diagnostic tests, but they can still cause you a lot of pain, soreness, and discomfort, even when they begin to heal.

Is A Non-Invasive Treatment Option

After an accident of any kind, the thought of surgery or intense physical therapy can be daunting. Rather than putting your battered body through aggressive treatment to heal what's broken, let Action Spine and Joint ease you back into the health you had before your accident! All of our treatments are minimally invasive. Some of them only require a light touch, and you usually won't need to remove clothing or even your shoes to receive proper treatment.

Viscosupplementation Therapy and Joint Injections

Viscosupplementation is a quick, minimally invasive treatment that injects a fluid into the joint as lubrication. A shot is applied directly into the joint and must be done precisely for this therapy to be most effective. Typically, a joint has about 4 mL of fluid, so the goal is to create an injection that will get you back up to that amount. Our injections are usually comprised of one or 2 mL of fluid. The lower the amount of fluid in your joints, the faster degeneration happens.

On the other hand, cortisone joint injections, also called steroid injections or steroid shots, may work well for you. This is the other type of joint therapy we can provide. We'llWe'll take the time to explain your options and help you decide what you are most comfortable with.

Spinal Decompression and Laser Therapy

Spinal decompression therapy is one of the many services offered by Dr. Casey Bearden. It is a way to alleviate pain in the back and/or legs, including sciatica and neck pain. We use a traction table and various other equipment to stretch the spine gently. This may require the patient to lie face up or face down while we administer moderate, fixed movements that slowly relax muscles and provide traction for the spine. As we carefully stretch the spine, it has a chance to realign itself in an organic way, even reducing the number of traditional chiropractic treatments you may need.

Low light laser therapy, sometimes referred to as LLLT, is another spinal treatment that gives us a way to help patients avoid back surgery while effectively treating their back pain. The science behind laser therapy is amazingly simple, yet it is not a practice that is understood and effectively practiced by every Nashville chiropractor.

Some of the other conditions Action Spine & Joint can treat with laser therapy include the following:

  • Carpal tunnel
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Migraines
  • TMJ
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Stress injuries

Joint Pain Treatments

Action Spine and Joint is ready to help you treat your pain. In most cases, invasive surgeries or expensive medications are NOT the answer. We can help you determine the best course of treatment for your unique joint pain.

Our Alternative Treatments Include:

  • Chiropractic Adjustments
  • Weight Loss
  • Strengthening Exercises
  • Diet & Supplements

Back Pain Treatment

Back pain is a common health problem for middle-aged adults and seniors. Pain may be chronic, acute, or intermittent. Even young adults who are spending eight hours and more sitting for five days a week and rarely engaging in any substantial physical activity over the weekends are experiencing back pain. Depending on the nature of the injury or condition, back pain can be cured in many cases with rehabilitation and therapy from Action Spine and Joint.

Common Causes of Back Pain Include:

  • Prolonged Sitting
  • Lower Back Pain from Sitting Jobs at Desks
  • Prolonged Standing
  • Driving for Long Hours
  • Musculoskeletal Disorders
  • And More!

Regardless of the cause of back pain, you can opt for chiropractic treatment. With spinal adjustments, physical therapy, massage, back strengthening exercises, posture correction, and minor changes to lifestyle, you can not only get relief from back pain, but you can effectively bid farewell to it in a few weeks.

Elbow Treatments

Elbow pain is usually not serious, but because you use your elbow with almost every movement you make, it is important to take care of it as soon as possible. The most common elbow ailment is probably tendonitis, or "tennis elbow." It is caused by the overuse of repetitive movements of the elbow, such as one would find in a tennis or golf player. Laser therapy treatments will help with pain and inflammation, while physical therapy and chiropractic manipulation will help to strengthen and properly align the bones in the elbow.

Another common cause of elbow pain is injuries attained through falls or contact sports. We can design a specific program consisting of chiropractic, laser treatment, and physical therapy that strengthens the muscles around the elbow and speeds the healing process.

Pulled Ligament Treatments

Sometimes ligament damage is easy to diagnose. You turn your ankle and then your ankle hurts. You do hours of gardening on your knees, and then your knees hurt. Other times, it is not so easy to tell when you may have pulled a ligament.

Chiropractic manipulation from Action Spine and Joint helps to make sure the bones are in perfect alignment and do not put additional strain on the ligaments than connect them. And physical therapy helps to strengthen the muscles and improve your posture, both of which help the ligaments to heal faster than rest alone.

Our methods are designed to ease your pain and discomfort without resorting to pain-killing drugs or risky surgery, which may worsen the pain or injury.

Knee Treatments

If knee pain is diminishing your joy in living, let us help you. Television ads tell you that taking a simple pill will relieve all of your symptoms. There are side effects, and sometimes, long-term damage. This can be worse than the knee pain itself. Friends and neighbors tell you that you have reached the age for knee replacement. But knee surgery is not a given as you age!

Dr. Bearden has a number of treatment options for knee injuries and pain. Each patient will receive individualized options from which to establish a full treatment plan. If you have been told you require knee surgery, it may not be the case. In most cases, our non-surgical joint specialists can help you recover without surgery. Knee replacement can often be avoided. Our joint specialists have treated all sorts of knee pain WITHOUT drugs or surgery. With our treatment, you will quickly return to the activities that you enjoy. Pain is bad for patients and their family members. We want to return you to a life with NO PAIN!

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Treatments

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is the bane of anyone that uses their hands for repetitive tasks, like typing. Early symptoms include numbness or tingling of the palm and the fingers – especially the thumb, pointer, and middle fingers. If left untreated, patients can develop shooting pain up their arms.

In our office, our chiropractors use a combination of manipulation, laser therapy, and taping to relieve the pressure on your median nerve. Sometimes wearing a splint or doing wrist strengthening exercises will be encouraged. If you find yourself wanting to shake your hands out to get rid of numbness or tingling, come and let us work with you so that you can find relief without having to resort to drugs or surgery.

Herniated Disc Treatment

Herniated discs primarily result from an injury of some sort. Patients who have a history of skeletal problems are more vulnerable to the condition. Being overweight, having poor posture, prolonged sitting, walking, or even improper exercise can cause herniated discs. Spinal problems such as misalignment or irregular curvature of the spine can also cause herniated discs.

Non-surgical and non-invasive therapy for herniated discs by chiropractors has shown excellent results. Dr. Bearden creates an individual personalized treatment plan for each patient. The individualized therapy plan is designed based on the exact condition of herniated discs, the patient's medical history, and the type of remedy that will work for the patient's lifestyle. Treatment options include spinal decompression, spinal lasers, chiropractic adjustments, and more. From holistic physiotherapy to localized massages, posture correction to spinal manipulation, or adjustment, there are several ways to treat herniated discs with chiropractic care.

Sciatica Therapy

Sciatica is a very painful condition. The pain originates from the lower back/lumbar region or buttock and goes all the way down through one or both legs. The nerve pain from this condition may vary in intensity and time frame. Sometimes it could be too mild, while other times, it becomes unbearably severe. The pain may be intermittent, lasting a few minutes, while other times, it could persist for long durations from a few days to several weeks.

The chiropractors of Action Spine and Joint are highly trained professionals skilled in chiropractic treatments and the relief of sciatica. The different Chiropractic treatments of sciatica include:

  • Adjustments (Spinal Manipulation) to ease and prevent restricted movement of the spine, realign vertebra, reduce nerve irritability, muscle spasms, and pain.
  • Cryotherapy to reduce inflammation and control pain.
  • Ultrasound to increase blood flow and reduce muscle spasms, cramping, swelling, rigidity, and pain.
  • TENS unit (transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation) treatment to control serious and immediate pain and decrease muscle spasms.

Spinal Stenosis Treatments

Spinal stenosis is an abnormal reduction in space in the open areas of the spine which can cause pain and/or numbness to the back, legs, and arms. Stenosis often afflicts those 50 and older. The symptoms of spinal stenosis are generally progressive. Chiropractors have had significant success in treating spinal stenosis. At Action Spine & Joint, treatment options include, yet are not limited to, the following:

Spinal Decompression – using the best decompression machine available
Spinal Laser Treatments – using the best deep tissue lasers available to heal disc and sciatic pain
Chiropractic Adjustments – using a variety of gentle techniques, including the Palmer method taught at the Palmer College of Chiropractic

Bursitis Chiropractic Treatments

Bursitis is an inflammation of the bursa, the fluid-filled sacs that cushion the joints and provide a gliding surface to reduce friction. Major bursae are located near large joints like the hips, knees, shoulders, and elbows. Bursitis is a temporary condition and does not usually cause deformity. However, it may limit motion in the affected areas. Though bursitis can occur anywhere in the body where a bursa is located, there are several specific well-known types. They include hip, knee, kneecap, posterior Achilles tendon, and anterior Achilles tendon bursitis.

Many non-invasive therapies are available for the treatment of bursitis, including chiropractic care. Treatment regimens for bursitis depend on various factors and are developed in accordance with age, medical history, and overall health. Consult with the professionals at Action Spine and Joint.
